Skills & Behavior

Any single instance of damage that deals more than 15% of the Halcyonite's total health will stun it and interrupt its attacks or movement. Whirlwind is an exception to this (see Notes for further details).

Primary: Sword Thrust

The Halcyonite pulls its right arm back and then thrusts the sword forward dealing 150% with a proc coefficient of 1.0 while pushing the target away with a force of 2000. The attack has a medium reach forward with 24m. It is also very quick with very little telegraphing, lasting only 1 second and scaling with attack speed.

This skill has a cooldown of 5 seconds.

Secondary: Triple Laser Attack

This is a very similar, but upgraded version of the Stone Golem.png Stone Golem's Laser AttackStone Golem.pngStone Golem
HP: 480 (+144 per level)
Damage: 20 (+4 per level)
Class: Ranged / Melee
Speed: 6.6 m/s

, where instead it fires 3 beams in total, one every 0.5 seconds. All 3 beams are fired at the same location without further tracking the target.

While the phase of firing the laser lasts for 2 seconds and it scales with attack speed, it cannot be reduced to less than 1 second even with enough attack speed since all 3 shots are required to be fired.

This skill has a cooldown of 10 seconds, which starts the moment the first laser is fired.

Utility: Whirlwind

The Halcyonite raises its sword and performs a downwards swipe before starting to spin with its sword, dealing 90% damage with a proc coefficient of 0.2 every second for 5 seconds. Technically the attack spawns an area-of-effect projectile similar to the Mini Mushrum.png Mini Mushrum'sMini Mushrum.pngMini Mushrum

Damage: 16 (+3.2 per level)

Survivor: Captain
can actually disarm the attack even though the spinning animation will continue.

This skill has a cooldown of 10 seconds.

Special: Sword Swipe

The Halcyonite raises its sword and performs a downwards swipe dealing 150% damage with a proc coefficient of 1.0. Similar to the Sword Thrust it has the same duration, but the swipe extends 11m forward and 20m across.

This skill has a cooldown of 3 seconds.

Behaviors

  1. Use special and stop: the Halcyonite must be within 15m of its target and be looking at it. This behavior lasts for 1.5 seconds. Due to its priority and the skill's short cooldown the Halcyonite will execute this quite frequently if the player stays within range.
  2. Use primary and stop: the Halcyonite must be within 15-20m from its target and be looking at it. This behavior lasts for 1.5 seconds.
  3. Use utility: the Halcyonite must be within 20-60m from its target and be looking at it. This behavior lasts for 6 seconds and cannot be selected twice in a row.
  4. Use secondary and stop: the Halcyonite must be within 30-120m from its target and have line of sight. This behavior lasts for 5 seconds and cannot be chosen twice in a row.
  5. Chase sprinting: no requirements. This behavior lasts for 2 seconds.

Notes

  • While the area of effect for Whirlwind lasts for 5 seconds, the attack's animation ends slightly prematurely which can result to the player taking damage for no apparent reason if they approach it during that time.
    • This also applies when the Halcyonite is stunned or frozen during the move's animation. Once spawned, the "Projectile" will always last the full five seconds, unless it is destroyed by Defensive Microbots.png Defensive MicrobotsBgLegendary.pngDefensive Microbots.pngDefensive Microbots
Shoot down nearby projectiles. Recharge rate scales with attack speed.

Shoot down 1 (+1 per stack) projectiles within 20m every 0.5 seconds. Recharge rate scales with attack speed.
      .
    • The projectile can be visualized as a white ring around the halcyonite's feet.
  • The initial animation of raising the sword for Sword Swipe and Whirlwing is similar except that for the Swipe the tip of the sword glows golden.

Tips

  • Unlike most enemies in the game, Halcyonite does not use nodegraphs at all and will chase the player in a straight line even if it cannot reach them or it would die in the process, so tricking them into getting stuck or falling off a ledge is fairly easy.
    • One can take advantage of the forward momentum of Whirlwind and bait the Halcyonite to charge towards a cliff and to its death, though it is slightly inconsistent.

Trivia

  • The root word "halcyon" is an adjective denoting perfection or prosperity, and is a synonym to the adjective form of golden.
  • While the Halcyonite has stats more appropriate for minibosses, in most stages it is categorised as a boss in terms of Spawn Cards, even though it cannot be chosen as one for the Teleporter Event. However, since bosses have a lower weight for being spawn this makes its appearance less likely. It is likely this is a miscategorisation.
