Yes, Chef!.png
Type Special
Cooldown 15s
Proc Coefficient 0.33
Description Boosts the next Skill used.
Notes
  • Unlocked via the Chef: Barbecued Bison Recipe Complete challenge. (As Chef complete 10 recipes by searing an oiled bison with Sear.)
  • Using this skill deals 100% damage and grants a passive fire aura around Chef dealing 10% damage a tick until a skill is used.
  • Note: When hovering over the boosted skill icons in-game, they do not show new descriptions, and the boosted skill info is a tooltip when hovering over the skills in the lobby instead.

Tips

  • Dice can be used while Roll is active
    • Hitting an enemy with Dice while using Roll counts as using both abilities on the enemy, even if the player never collides with the enemy during Roll. This can be used to easy self healing, especially on flying enemies
  • Yes, Chef! refreshes the cooldown of all other abilities
    • In the case of items such as Backup Magazines or Hardlight Afterburner, only one charge will be restored and no charges will be restored if the player has at least 1 charge.
    • The other abilities will be refreshed instantly and can be used immediately after casting Yes, Chef!, even during its animation. Only abilities used AFTER the Yes, Chef! animation is finished will be boosted. One use case for this is to use Roll, then cast Yes, Chef!, then immediately use roll again, then after the Yes, Chef! cooldown is finished, the player will be able to cast a boosted Dice or Sear

Trivia

  • CHEF's Mastery skin, "PRES-10", is read as "Preston".
    • This was confirmed on Discord to be a nod to the Risk of Rain brand lead, Preston.
      • Preston says this was very nice of them to do.
  • Despite Chef's mechanical appearance, it is not treated by the game as mechanical, meaning AI Chefs (for example, those spawned by Goobo Jr. or the Artifact of Vengeance) can be infected by Void Infestors, and friendly AI Chefs do not get benefits from Spare Drone Parts. Additionally, unlike the mechanical survivors, MUL-T and REX, Chef does not have built-in armor, and its name is not written in all capital letters.

Lore

Garret pokes at his food in the mess hall of the quiet ship, anxiously awaiting their orbital entry.

The CHEF bot behind the counter hums opera poorly. It adds a cooked patty to a tall and precarious pile next to the grill, then slams a raw patty into the grill with a loud SLAP!

"Even junk gets bored, huh?” Garret said, eyeing the unstable pile of meat.
The CHEF bot whirs and snaps to attention, saluting Garret. Its chassis bursts open with a belch of flame.

CHEF bot quickly slams the door shut again, the smell of burnt meat (and hair) fills the mess hall.

"Can’t believe Kelvin keeps this thing around." Garret says testily, eyebrows singed.
