Lore

A world without end.

A world protected.

Hosts shadowed by oblivion, reigned in.

All for the life of a worm.

In the worlds without,

Where are their guardians to guide them?

Where will their souls go, in the end?

Why let chaos rule, when power can decide?

Previous log for this item, now of questionable canonicity.

Providence stood motionless, staring at the locked gate.

Where, just a moment ago, his brother had once stood.

It had worked. The gate had worked, just as he predicted.

And now, his brother was gone.

Providence felt sick. He collapsed to his knees, retching as the gravity of what he had just done washed over him like a tidal wave.

For a while, Providence sat at the footsteps of the gate. By now, his brother would have realized what had happened.

Now, there was no going back. He had made his choice.

Providence's gaze drifted to the remains of the meal he and his brother had shared prior to the final test and subsequent activation of the gate. The last time the two had enjoyed a civil, even jovial, discussion. Providence's heart ached.

After a while, the ache subsided. Only an emptiness remained.

With a sigh, Providence took one of the cups his brother had delicately carved from stone. And one last time, he raised the cup to the sky- a toast to the beginning of a new age for Petrichor V.

  • The log for this item was changed after release. The community manager's note of "Grovetender is over the moon" is a reference to the user who pointed out the lore contradiction.

places her death after Providence's betrayal of Mithrix. This means that when Mithrix used it for the first time, it was not during the betrayal. However, the wording for the old log entry for Sautéed Worms strongly implies that this was the first activation of the "gate" that sent Mithrix to the moon, and that Providence was unsure if it would work. As both gates are most likely the same, the original log contradicts pre-existing lore with its aforementioned wording.
