Escaped : ..and so she left, with everything she loved.

Vanished : ..and so she vanished, smothered by a larger obsession.

Drifter is a playable character in Risk of Rain 2, added by the Alloyed Collective expansion.

A compulsive pack rat, Drifter utilizes the collection of junk in her backpack both as a weapon and as a way to augment her fighting style. By beating enough junk out of enemies, she can bypass some of her skill cooldowns, or utilize her crafty abilities to create Temporary Items for herself and her teammates.

Completing the Lost in Transit challenge will unlock Drifter as a playable survivor.

  • Activating this skill cancels downward momentum, allowing the user to avoid fall damage.
  • Hitting a monster with the initial slam can generate Junk

Proc Coefficient 0.0 Slam / 1.0 Throw
Description Leap forward and bag a monster or interactable. Use again to throw your bag's contents. Captured objects are Bludgeoned.
Notes
  • Repossess can't capture bosses, but can bag Halcyonites.
  • Different interactables will weigh down Drifter differently when they're captured. The heavier a captured object is, the more it will slow her down and increase the damage of Bludgeon and Discard.
    • Light interactables, such as Barrels, will only weigh down Drifter a little and show a green slowdown marker.
    • Medium interactables, such as Large Chests, will weigh down Drifter a good amount and show a yellow slowdown marker.
    • Heavy interactables, such as Multishop Terminals, will weigh down Drifter a lot and show a red slowdown marker.
    • The same weight system applies to monsters, with the difference being that monsters are able to escape out of the bag if given enough time. The time it takes to do this depends on how strong the monster is.
  • Blazing Elites will continuously deal damage from the fire trail while bagged so Drifter should avoid grabbing them as it can easily deal fatal damage.
  • The cooldown for this ability starts on cast, but is paused if Repossess captures an object for as long as that object is held
  • Sprinting during the cast time will cancel the skill while refunding it's cooldown

A delivery containing 2 items (79%/20%/1%) will appear in a random location on each stage. (Increases rarity chances of the items per stack).
. When these spawn, leave them until you are about to enter the next stage as they will retain their benefits, spawning a lockbox or multishop respectively essentially turning a temporary item into a different real item. For Rusted Key, if the player already has a normal key, it can be beneficial to try and spawn a temporary copy and use it instead. This can also be done with Tinker as if a normal Rusted Key spawns on a stage with an unopened lockbox, turning it into a temporary item gives the player a completely free white scrap.
  • Junk Cube is a surprisingly efficient mobility tool as by standing on it and using her primary attack, it will move her much faster than her default speed. Since this moves with each attack, this mobility will actually scale off of Drifter's attack speed and not movement speed.

  • Since Trash to Treasure grants buffs for any scrap carried, Tinker is essentially a way to reroll an undesired item into a buff via item scrap. Many items provide a weaker benefit than the stat buffs provided by scrap and can effectively be upgraded by being turned to scrap. This is especially true of uncommon healing items, which the consistent health regen provided by green scrap is often providing more value than.
  • When using Junk Cube against flying enemies, aim the crosshair directly at the enemy instead of accounting for drop off and usually it will correctly aim towards the target. Standing on top of the cube while doing this will also fly her towards the target letting her deal easy melee damage to them.
  • Drifter is one of the strongest allies in Co-op having a ton of supportive options:

    • If you are playing with another Drifter, try having only one player equip Tinker as there is very little benefit to having multiple players use it.
    • Since she actually benefits from scrap due to Trash to Treasure, other players can use Drifter as a bank for their scrap, letting her hold it until a printer is found, then having Drifter spend it on their behalf. Furthermore, when finding items that are of very little value to any member of the team, letting Drifter use Tinker and take the scrap is a good idea.
    • Other players can actually hitch a ride on Junk Cube. This appears to knock them off from the Drifter's perspective, but this is simply a desync and they quickly reappear. She can also Repossess slower players and piggyback them, or throw them to somewhere beneficial.
    • Salvage can be given to other players too! Keep an eye out for any spawned items that highly synergise with your team and let them take it for the teleporter boss. • If you are playing with a Drifter who is using Tinker let them know when you want something rerolled. There is no point taking a useless item from a multishop when it can be recycled.
    • Be mindful of your team when using Tinker. Just because a multishop or printer has nothing of value to Drifter does not mean it has no value to them. Let players know when you are rerolling a printer; the last thing you want is a teammate going off to gather scrap, interacting with the printer only to find the Soldier's Syringe Soldier's SyringesBgCommon.pngSoldier's Syringe.pngSoldier's Syringe

Trivia

  • Drifter's unlock challenge is a reference to the Lost In Transit mod, an unofficial mod that would add Drifter to the game alongside other returning items, elites, and features.
    • Alloyed Collective was made in collaboration with some of the mod's developers.
      • The developer of the unofficial Drifter survivor, Swuff, also worked on the official Drifter survivor.
  • Drifters Tornado Slam launched with a internal value called `bounceTuah`.
    • This is likely was a reference to Hawk Tuah.
    • This value multiplied velocity by 1, effectively doing nothing.
    • This value was removed in the first post launch Alloyed Collective patch.
  • Unlike all of the other humanoid survivors, Drifter only has four fingers on each hand.
  • When triggering the haunted skull attack of Cleanup the item that Drifter uses is the unfinished "CooldownOnCrit" item, which shares its appearance and effect with the Wicked Ring item from Risk of Rain.
  • On rare occasions, Repossess can cause the Drifter to bag herself. The circumstances under which this can occur are unclear.
